Rally by the red-shirt protesters

GENERAL ADVICE FROM THE EMBASSY OF MALAYSIA IN BANGKOK

RALLY BY THE UDD, 19 SEPTEMBER 2009, ROYAL PLAZA BANGKOK

As you are all aware, the UDD protesters are planning to hold a rally on 19 September 2009 (Saturday) near the Royal Plaza and would later march to the area near the residence of Gen. Prem Tinsulanonda, President of the Privy Council. It is also expected that the protesters will also march to the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission. The organiser expects more than 100,000 protesters will turn up at the said rally.

2. In light of the above developments, the Embassy would like to make the following advice to fellow Malaysians in Thailand:

a) avoid visiting the said areas as the Thai Government will invoke the Internal Security Act (ISA) at that area to put the situation under control;
b) continue to be vigilant and keep abreast with the development by following the news from local media channels and international channels; and
c) contact the Embassy for assistance, if necessary
